One of the things I really want to do this
time is to get to know more about art, design and culture here – not something Sydney
is renowned for more widely. I don't mean that this city does not produce countless creative people, only that it is not obviously a 'central' location of contemporary art and design practice. More straightforwardly, it is not something I know much about.
So, first step Art and About Sydney - on the theme of 'endangered' as in what has been lost, or in danger of being lost.
Photograph shows work on display along the St James walkway of Hyde Park north, as part of an exhibition entitled Australian Life

Hi jos: this is an invitation to comment, isnt it! You might have heard of Patrick White, Robert Hughes, Thomas Keneally, Brett Whitely, Peter Weir, Phillip Noyce, Baz Luhrmann, Glenn Murcutt, (boys all, I know!) Cate Blanchett and Nicole Kidman: while you are there, you might pop in to the Opera House, the MOCA, Sydney Theatre company, the Stills Gallery, the Royal Sydney Easter Show (the lumberjacks) and, of course the Sydney Cricket Ground. Good try?
